Pamela J. Bjorkman, Ph.D.


Dr. Bjorkman is a Professor of Biology at the California Institute of Technology. She is also an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Crystallographic Association, the American Society of Cell Biology, the American Association of Immunologists, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Bjorkman received a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Oregon and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University. Subsequently, she held postdoctoral positions at Harvard and the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Richard S. Blumberg, M.D.


Dr. Blumberg is currently a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Chief of the Gastroenterology Division at Brigham & Women's Hospital of the Harvard Medical School in Boston. In addition, Dr. Blumberg is Director of Gastroenterology Research, and Director of the Laboratory of Mucosal Immunology at Brigham & Women's Hospital. He has served as Chairperson of the National Scientific Advisory Committee for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, is Co-Director of the Harvard Digestive Diseases Center, a NIH-funded multidisciplinary center, and a former member of the Immunological Sciences Study Section of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Blumberg is an elected member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation and Association of American Physicians. Dr. Blumberg received a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Carnegie-Mellon University, an M.S. from Harvard University, an M.D. from Jefferson Medical College, and an M.B.A from Northeastern University and holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases and Gastroenterology following training at Cornell University Medical College, the Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women's Hospital, respectively.

Wayne I. Lencer, M.D.


Dr. Lencer, a co-founder of Syntonix, is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School where his laboratory focuses on epithelial cell biology. He is also Director of the Combined Program in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, and Co-Director of the Harvard Digestive Diseases Center. Dr. Lencer received the Samuel Meltzer award for basic research in gastroenterology and is an elected member of the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He has published over 55 refereed scientific articles. Dr. Lencer received a B.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.D. from Boston University School of Medicine.

Neil E. Simister, Ph.D.


Dr. Simister, a co-founder of Syntonix, is currently an Associate Professor of Molecular Immunology at Brandeis University. Much of his research has focused on the transport of immunoglobulins. To date, he has published 23 refereed scientific articles and 14 reviews and book chapters dealing with this field. Dr. Simister received a B.A. in Biochemistry and a D. Phil. in Biological Sciences from Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
